Phil was a rare talent and his generous heart shone through every character he portrayed. Even twelve years later, he is sadly missed and fondly thought of by his fans. Thanks, Phil.

Although his life was cut short, he left a lasting legacy and his work continues to bring laughter to the world. Very few people have the ability to bring so much joy to the world, and those who do, should be honored. So here's to you Phil!
Thank you to the person/people who put up this site, and all who've left their words.

I was watching KiKi Delivery Service just a second ago and noticed the "In memory of Phil Hartman, 1948-1998" and was wondering who that was. You'll have to excuse my lack of knowlegde on him (and my lack of spelling skills). He was Jiji in this masterpiece. Such a lovely voice he had.

I'm re-watching News Radio for the first time since it originally aired and I just got to the episode Bill Moves On. It is so sad -- I couldn't stop crying, especially when Dave Foley broke down and you could tell he wasn't acting. It is amazing to me that having never met a person, I could still cry so many years after his death. Phil had a light that he shared with the world and we are all different people for having see that light. God bless his friends, family and fans.
This really goes to show how much we all affect each other... so be good.

Hello everybody. Phil's back in the news! His brother and a fan are working to get him his star on Canada's Walk of Fame. Check out the Facebook page above for info and become a fan. We all like to hear from you! Thanks, Dale McCartney
Phil Hartman was one person I wish I somehow had had a chance to meet. I just know he would have said something funny, even to a stranger.Rest In Peace, good sir. Watching the NewsRadio 'farewell' episode after his passing is a tough one but I just let myself cry like a baby anyway.
Phil was a friend of my Dad. I was lucky enough to see him at The Groundlings when I was a kid many times. He was always very kind and he took the time to talk to me. I'm thankful that I had a chance to know him. What a shame... you will always be my favortie SNL guy!
Hello to all who read this. I am Phil's Younger brother. I have been reading web pages and fans site stuff for months now and it is amazing the impact Phil has on people lives and how much his fans miss him. Here is a link for the Canadian walk of fame. A facebook group started the petition. Please go to link and send your friend. Also become a fan on the "Yogi and the KID" facebook page. This is the facebook page of a cartoon being made of some of Phil's original drawings.Voice Directed by Emmy winner Stevie Vallance and Director of Animation Oscar winner Brian Lemay.
I miss Phil and his wife, Brynn, every day of my life. Here's a blog I just finished about the last time he made me laugh:

Phil and his family will always be in my prayers and a wonderful memory in my life.
I remember the skit where he sat under a light on SNL with farley and was asking farley why he was scared, Farley said he was afraid to die, and hartman said, Dont be scared Ill always be here with you my friend, its odd that they both died after that skit not to long after, its such a shame , they both had to go. brilliant.

Correction: Phil's artwork was on an album cover for the band POCO, and not Crosby, Stills and Nash. (It was the "Legend" album - the one with the horse).
I worked just up the road in Encino from Phil's house; I cried that day. He was one of a kind. He was said to have said the LORD's Prayer before every SNL taping... Maybe he knew something his wife didn't.
Words cannot begin to describe how funny this guy was he had a great talent and it is certainly one of the biggest losses along with heath ledger and jim belushi. i cry everytime i watch bill moves on from newsradio, and i'm a 15 year old male from kuwait, miss you now and forever phil hartman you magnificent bastard!! Ever since my e-mail address was displayed on this website I've been receiving scam e-mails every day so I just want to warn people not to display their addresses. Phil Hartman wouldn't want anyone to get scammed.
Phil was unique in every sense of the word. Without a doubt Phil stands in a class all of his own as one of Canada's most talented actor's ever to grace Hollywood! Why his vocal impersonations were un-paralleled by any other person out there, and his quick wit, charm, and un-canny original humour were a winning combination to boot! As I sit here and type these words, it still bothers me that he is no more. I actually mimick and recall many of his wondrous "one-liners" to this very day. His memory will never faid from my thoughts. I loved and will continue to miss this great man forever.

The first thing that ever got me introduced and interested to Phil was his voice work for Kiki's Delivery Service, around the time that I was a good 8 years old, and by that time, he had already gone to greener pastures. It's a terrible thing that happened, I miss his sense of humor and that wonderful voice of his to this day, 11 years later, and watching reruns of Newsradio can brighten my day up just by the sound of that voice, along with making me wish that things hadn't happened the way they did.
The man had amazing talents, and it's still a shame that he's gone. God bless you, Phil. You're still missed, and you still will be for many years to come.
Most definitely my FAVORITE SNL cast member.
News Radio is my favorite show of all time! His comedy was "smart" and always made me laugh.
Has been and always be missed.

I CAN SAY HE WAS A GOOD ACTOR HE DID GOOD IN THOSE MOVIES. I DO BELIEVE ITS GOT TO BE A TRADGEDY FOR THE COMEDY WORLD. I WISH I CAN SAY I'VE SEEN HIM OFTEN OR HEARD HIM OFTEN ENOUGH TO KNOW HIS ACCLOMPISHMENTS AND WORK. I'VE READ OTHER MESSEGES AND HE SURE SEEMS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST. One of the Comedy Icons, Phil Hartman, will always be in our hearts!
To quote that Nat King Cole song "Never before has someone been more unforgettable in every way, and forevermore that's how you'll stay."
You've touched so many people and because of you one of my son's middle names is Philip.
R.I.P. Phil Hartman(Hartmann)
Out of my 37 years on this earth, Phil Hartman is at the top of my list of people who have made me laugh. He was unique, caring, unselfish, talented and genuine. It was Phil's presence and chemistry with his co-stars on NewsRadio that made him special to me. I lost a loved around the same time as the 9/11 incident and went into quite a deep depression. A channel called A&E were playing reruns of this show I had never seen before because I have not been a big TV buff most of my life. This show was of course NewsRadio. It was the ONLY thing that brought my spirits up and made me laugh again, I would always look forward to seeing my daily dose of NewsRadio and Phil, it actually helped me through a tough time. I have him most of all to thank. Miss You Phil.
I have dedicated a youtube channel to NewsRadio and Phil Hartman, if you want to check it out go to my apocalyptichybrid2 or punch in NewsRadio and find me. Peace
Just bought a copy of How the Grinch Stole Christmas on DVD, because I was thrilled to learn that there was a special "making of" segment in the bonus features that Phil hosted. It was a great treat. Missing you this Holiday season, Phil. Imagining what great things you'd be doing now.
I actually just got through watching one of Phil's Auditions from 1985 on Youtube. Never seen it before. Great stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQIlGpOVY5E Definitely miss you on the Simpsons.
I remember working at a bank back in the mid 90's and this other guy and me would do the Troy McClure voice whenever we would deal with clients and try to get the other to crack up in hysterics...almost got ourselves fired. Damn, Phil, I miss u, dude. R.I.P
Whenever I see a rerun on the Simpsons and hear his voice I get slight goose bumps. His untimely passing makes this world a lesser place. His talent gave laughter to many and I for one will never forget him. He will live on within all of us who he has touched. I cannot forgive the person responsible.
I wish his children peace and love and strength.
See you on the other side Phil !
Till then,
Thomas
I remember him for his many movie roles but i really loved him on snl. It's sad to see a comic wizard go at such a young age.I truly believe though that he is at peace and sharing many laughs with god.REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND!!!!!

I was watching Jingle All the Way today and remembered Phil Hartman's performance in the TV shows especially the Captain role in Pee Wee's Playhouse when I saw it as a kid. May you Rest In Peace and hope that you are making God laugh out loud.
might of made a bad loke. didn;t realize this was a memorial. Love you PHIL! Miss you in every episode of SNL, Simpsons, News Radio, and anything else you touched. You are a comedic legend amongst court jesters. You will always be immortalized in the work that we were fortunate enough to record and share with our future generations.
This man made me laugh so much on snl and a couple of other shows that I finally looked him up. Truly shocked and saddened by his death. He gave the world the wonderful gift of laughter, we should all be as lucky to leave such a present behind.

I knew Phil Hartman very well. He was a close friend to me and my ex-husband
Shadoe Stevens back in the early 80's when he was at the Groundlings on
Melrose in LA, Cal. I always knew he was going to be a star. He was a
wonderful and funny and extremely talented human being. After my divorce
from Shadoe, we dated for a while. I truly miss this sweet and incredible man. May he rest in peace...
and extremely funny and beyond talented human being.

I cannot believe that such a talented man was taken so
early from his life. He was a sheer genius with voices and
without a doubt lionel hutz was and still is my favourite character.

Nice to know you are still around and watching over us. Thank you to the proprieter of this guestbook for keeping it going. Hugs and kisses Phillip.

As a free-lance comedy witer for Jay Leno and a huge fan of comedy in general, I believe that the world lost a tremendous amount of humor when he passed away. Most comedians die of excess and suicide, he was the only one I know that was murdered. From SNL to Pee Wees Playhouse to the unbeliveable Newsradio, he was a a comic star. I have never seen anything bad from him. I wish I new him personally. He was the glue of SNL and I think he would have been a repeat host of SNL if he were still alive. Newsradio whould have found a larger audience and would have been as big as Sienfeld. I truly miss him.
Phil was an extremely funny guy who brought laughter & joy to millions - he is sorely missed.
What a huge talent.

This guestbook is a great testament to the life and memory of Phil. He had touched so many hearts during his lifetime, and shall continue to do so with the legacy of his humor and humanity. Many tyrants and "heroes" are recorded by history for their extraordinary atrocities, but Phil is remembered for the extraordinary kindness and good he has done onto others. He is sorely missed by all who see the great human being in him.
I was stumbling through some clips on youtube and come across some clips of Phil today. It not hard to find him anywhere if you look.
The one thing that I will never forget was Jay Leno remembering Phil right after his death on the Tonight Show. It was all Jay could do not to burst into tears while trying to tell a story about how he would be in a restaurant and out of nowhere he would hear "Oh Jay" and it hurt him to know he would never hear it again. I was fighting back some tears of my own watching the emotion on Jay's face.
Miss you Phil........
All these yrs. later it is still hard to think he is gone what a great person he was. My thoughts are still with his children whom I wish well. Thanks for the laughs dude
I thought Phil was one of the greatest - life cut short - comedians out there as in John Candy and many more. He is and will always be missed particularly every time I watch him on film.....good man - I miss you Phil - you and just a few other "hollywood" people that have died an untimely death made me gasp on your demise - and that is coming from someone who is a president of a company, not a "People" magazine reader. Hope you and Belushi, Candy, Pryor, Carlin and Farley are having a good time together - please record a DVD for us to see! Take care and god bless.
Wow...it's been ten years. I still think of how talented Phil Hartman was. Sad that money...fame...everything can be taken away so quickly and mean nothing compared to the people that will forever grieve. Embrace life while you have it because you never know when it'll be taken away. RIP
I only discovered you recently, as Newsradio never made it to UK tv, but I was engrossed and mesmerised by your performances, so much so I had to buy every series on DVD. Just your voice can make me laugh, let alone your comedic timing... What a huge loss you are to the world of comedy. You are, and always will be, missed very very much.

I love you Phil and I miss you so much! You are my favorite SNL star and forever will you rest in peace!
Much much love

Sad to see that no one (including myself) wrote in on the infamous date of May 28th.
It's been 10 long, sad years without Phil.
I wish I could say I was over it, or have moved on, but it still hurts as much as it did 10 years ago. My thoughts and prayers are forever with Phil's family.
Here are some excerpts from my previous posts on this great site:
+"First of all this has to be the greatest Phil Hartman site on the web as I've said over and over again. This being my third time writing in honor of Mr. Hartman. I'm glad others have recognized Phil's tragic murder and have made a memorial to him to honor one of the great comedians of all time. If I may I'd like to leave a message to Phil. Phil, you were undoubtedly the greatest comedian of all time. With a wide variety of characters and over a 1,000 voices such as Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure on the Simpsons, to President Reagan, Clinton, Frankenstein, the Anal Retentive Chef, Ed McMahon, Frank Sinatra, Charleton Heston and many others on SNL, from Cap'n Karl on Pee-Wee, to Bill McNeal on Newsradio and appearing in several major motion pictures shows how versatile your acting was and how much talent you had. You were taken from the world and your fans far too soon. I will forever miss you Phil. As of today I will always remember your talent as I try to impersonate the characters you have created. With more than the 1,000 voices you gave us you could deliver over a million laughs with them. I cannot even explain in words what you have meant to my life. All I can say is that you will be deeply missed by all you have touched. It has been very hurting to hear your name mentioned as the late Phil Hartman and to realize that you are indeed gone. As I watched this season of Newsradio, it finally clicked in my head that you will not be returning, and the show was nothing of what it used to be. I was so used to seeing you in many reruns of different shows, now knowing I will never see new things from "the man" really hurts deep inside. So Mr. Hartman, I hope you are resting in peace right now in Heaven and will forever. I cannot express any further how much of a loss you were to me. Rest in peace Phil, rest in peace =)"
+"it has been one year since PHIL HARTMAN'S tragic murder. today is not an anniversary. it marks one long year of not having the best comedic actor of all time. i hope PHIL is doing what he likes best in Heaven. we all know what he did best, and that was to make us laugh. i hope and pray PHIL's children are coping with this great loss after a year. our hearts go out to you all. although many of us did not know PHIL personally we can all appriciate his acting skills that entertained us all. rest in peace PHIL, we miss you!"
+"it's been awhile since i last posted. it makes me happy that so many have posted since i last visited this site. i think it's great that PHIL is still is the hearts and minds of many. i know that the comedic impression he left will never be forgotten. to all of the "new" PHIL fans keep enjoying the re-runs of "Newsradio" and "The Simpsons." for that's all we have now to remember PHIL by."
+"well... it's that day again... the day i wish i could forget, or rather, i wish it didn't happen. but instead of reflecting on what happened, i'd rather take this time to commemorate my favorite actor of all time. PHIL, you made me laugh like no other. i've posted on this site many times before praising your work, but on this day i wish to leave a message for you. i am still an avid follower of the characters you portrayed on snl. i wait for simpsons re-runs with troy mcclure and lionel hutz to come on everyday. i also catch re-runs of newsradio, and it's dreadful to watch its final season (without you). i still miss you a great deal PHIL, and after four years it's still difficult to believe that you're gone. since i didn't know you personally, your legacy still lives on through the characters you played. i think as time passes, more and more people realize how much they miss your talent. recently i've found clips that i can't stop laughing at. when you were on dennis miller: live talking about immigration (which is a great clip that shows more of you personally), the classic 'bill clinton visits mcdonald's' on snl, and when you did the frank sinatra group on snl. thankfully there are people out there who post these sound clips and how they still care about you and contribute to keeping your memory alive. you will forever be missed PHIL. these last four years have been very hard on me, and by keeping your memory alive, i can still be in denial that you're even gone. my prayers are with you... rest in peace PHIL, rest in peace."
+"On May 28th I had a bad feeling in my stomach. It was the same feeling I've had the past five years. I can't believe it's been that long. It is still difficult to cope with the loss of Phil. It took me almost two weeks to post this here. It wasn't because I couldn't, or forgot, but for I am at a loss of words in remembering Phil. I don't have to brag how good he was because we all know. I just want people to remember him and enjoy what he had to offer in his shortened life. Please continue to cherish the memory of Phil in every SNL, The Simpsons, and NewsRadio re-run you see. I'd like to thank you again Phil. R.I.P."

You still make me laugh. I miss you. I can't believe it's been ten years.
Nearly 10 years have come and gone since we lost you...and time has done very little to erase or sooth the pain I feel so deeply in my soul at your tragic departure. There isn't hardly a day that passes that I do not think of you...with both a light hearted smile and a profound sense of melancholy. I have come to believe that the truly beautiful souls are the ones taken back to heaven the quickest. Your talent lives on and will never fade...that is something that time will never be able to erase...your gentle genius and your legacy of laughter will live on forever. I am walking (as are we all) that long path on my way to be with you...and I can only hope that you will be waiting for me when I finally cross through that gateless gate which stems the tide of human affairs into the great golden fortress...I so want to shake your hand...and there is so much I want to tell you.
Phil, You have given SO much laughter to SO many people. The world is not as funny anymore without you here with us. Thank you for your amazing talent. My whole family misses you.
Phil was the greatest man i have ever watched on T.V simply for the fact that he was the greatest at what he did. He proved to be everything to everyone and nothing to none. He may have died 7 years before i was aware of his exsistence, but i still feel as though i knew him personally. There will never be anyone like him throughout the ages and therefore i can only feel sad, but rejoice everytime i see him on the television, hopefully no one will ever forget even win there elder what a great man he truly was :(

Before Phil became famous, he recorded some hilarious comedy in my family's home based recording studio (1977). I was seventeen years old at the time. I would come home from school, and the moment I walked in the door, Phil would pop out of the recording studio with a huge smile on his face and (loudly) say, "So, Sum, how was your day?" Then he'd flop down on the floor with his back against the wall (I never saw him sit in a chair). I would share about my day, and he'd look at my homework papers and grades, and encouraged me in my dream to one day become a writer.
I miss you, Phil. I can't see your face on TV or in a film without tearing up, and feeling this huge hole in my heart. God bless you. I know that you are in a much happier place, laughing, joking and dancing with the angels.
Such a sad, senseless loss--the very saddest in my life time. Phil brought so much laughter to so many, many people, and will continue to be sorely missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to have shared his brilliant comedic talent. He was truly a gift from God.
SO MANY YEARS LATER STILL NOT FORGOTTEN. WHAT A TREMANDOUS IMPACT A TRUE COMEDIAN CAN HAVE AND GREAT ACTOR CAN GIVE. STILL TO THIS DAY ,REMEMBERING THE LAUGHTER THAT PHIL HAD BROUGHT EVERYONE TO ENJOY LIVES ON. MANY ,MANY THANKS FOR ALL THE SMILES FROM A TRUE FAN JOHN
Phil's passing was so untimely and to this day I still get a lump in my throat remembering that dark day. It's comforting to know that his comedy and characters will live on, and for that I say... Good times, good times.
when my mouth is full, chances are i might exclaim 'WARLORDS!'
when someone isn't 'getting on board' with me i might tell them '... eh, maybe it's more of a SHELBYVILLE kind of idea.'
when a female is looking good, i might just blurt out 'DAMN SASSY.'
when something is going over my head, i explain that 'i'm just a caveman...'
phil hartman is alive in all of us.
A pivotal voice/actor in many programmes I enjoyed you are sadly missed. Being in Britain I hadn't realised you were no longer with us. One of the greatest gifts in life is laughter and provided us with so much.
I had always loved his work, but not only that, I felt like I knew him...I liked him so much for being, I feel, warm and genuine, in addition to his comedic talent and stage presence. I cried when I heard of the tragedy. I still ache when I remember. What a loss. My heart goes out to his children and family.
I remember Phil's role on Jingle All the Way and NewsRadio and i find it just tragic that he died the way he did. He was a great actor and an awesome comedian and i just wish i could have seen more of his work.
I am too young to not have fully witnessed all of Phil Hartman's great contributions to comedy, but I still remember all of those that I have seen. I was seven when he was murdered, so I never quite understood. Now, looking back at all of his tremendous work on Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons, News Radio (not to mention his cinematic roles), I am almost mad that I was not able to experience his wonderful work first hand. I am comforted to know, however, that he is very well recognized as a great actor and comedian. As tragic and saddening as this story is, one still can't help crack a smile upon seeing Hartman as president Clinton jog into a McDonalds on SNL. He was a great man and will always be missed.

Despite so many distractions in life, I still find myself thinking about Phil from time to time. I actually feel a pull in my heart when I do. It's weird, but I miss him.
I just loved Phil so much!he made me laugh all the time.I live in Brantford and think of Phil where ever I go in Brantford.I imagine him walking the same streets that I walk everyday.Brantford put up a memorial in his honour and it is beautiful.
They broke the mold, when the made Mr Hartman,,definatly one of my favorite actor's and voice over actor's,,,"you might remember me"....the Simpson's just aren't the same whithout him.
He was one of those comedians that could turn the simplest scenario into comedy gold. As troy mclure in the simpsons to his part in three amigo's. He may have had the smallest parts or not the main ones but his delivery was a vital contribution to the film or episode being a success.
As an englishman I did not grow up with snl and newsradio but I recognised his voice and face when I heard it on the tv, yet I did not know his name. But when he acted I always laughed as his comedy persona was such an over the top facade and it was what british comedy has come to love through alan partidge etc.. He has been a great teacher through that hilarious smile he had.
I was truly gutted when I heard phil was no longer alive as I just found out the other day. One more thing I will say is comedy has lost a stalwart. Rest in peace Phil and troy mclure.
May He Rest in Peace.... Bless His Family... Truly a Great Entertainer Has been Lost...

Phil was a great actor. I trully enjoyed him in the movie "Jingle all the way." I also enjoy the movie "House guest." His death is a great loss to everyone. I am greatful that we have his films to remember him by. Phil, you were a great actor and you will be remembered through your work. May God bless your family always. May God fill them with comfort and understanding.

I remember the day I heard that Phil Hartman was dead. It was especially saddening for me that day because NewsRadio was my favorite TV show at the time.
From SNL to The Simpsons to NewsRadio to whatever else he was doing, Phil Hartman was one of the unsung gods of comedy. It's too bad he never got the recognition he deserved or that his wife did what she did to him.
To Phil,
Wherever you are, sir, I hope you're making as many people laugh as you did while you were here. It's a shame that your talent was never truly recognized.
Dave Campbell
It is always a pleasure to watch Phil. He was a great actor and always made viewers appreciate his laughs and the funny guy he was. I am thankful he will always be with us in the movies he did.
Phil, you are greatly missed. You brought laughter into our hearts time and time again. Your death was tragic and ill-timed, but you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace.
a brilliant, kind, intelligent & compassionate man, comedian & artist was taken away from us. we will sorely miss you always, phil!

Phil Hartman was one of the many modern great comedians, of the stock of John Candy, Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield and so on. You will never see comedians like this again; they represent an era of comedy at its apogee and only if we could have Phil Hartman back, then the laughs would keep on going, but we do not. The only way to help to keep the laughs alive is to remember and enjoy the indispensible contributions he and others made to comedy and to use it to help make comedy into the great and enjoyable style it was once was. I think if Phil were alive today, then he would want us to improve and use his and other great comedian's great routines to help keep the laughs and he would still want us to do this, even though he is gone. To Phil Hartman, whereever you are, I hope you are keeping the laughs to enjoy your new life, whatever that may be and I hope you contributions to comedy shall never be forgotten.

Thanks you for all the memories filled with delightful laughter!
To say Phil Hartman was a gifted actor, is simply a huge understatement! For me, looking back upon his life's accumulated achievements and reminiscing about his various character roles in movies leaves me somewhat speechless! I often wonder what this great man would have gone on to do, if his life hadn't been terminated at such a young age. What a "huge" loss for Hollywood, but more than that, what a huge loss for his two children, mother, father, and remaining family members. This world has never been the same since he left us. Without any doubt, Heaven was transformed into an even greater place on the day he left us. In God we should all place our trust!
Phil, you always had a smile on your face. I have always beilieved that you can tell alot about someone by their eyes and there smile. You lit up lives by your sense of humor and gentle ways of making your fans laugh. You are and were a great person, and left us before your time. Love you always Phil Hartman.
Samuel
You were the best by (funniest) ever, by far. You made me laugh, you eased the pain of the world, if only for a minute. I never met you, but I hear you were a wonderful person, a great friend, and a good man.
You will be missed, you will be remembered.
From Loyola Elementary to Westchester High School, you entertained us all. You brought many a smile to me and I'm sorry we didn't connect in New York when you were at SNL. Peace be with you for eternity.

Phil are still inspiring people even today, I was only 6 when you died, so I was to young to really remember you in your prime, but recently I got into Pee-wee's Playhouse, then into learning more about the person who played my favorite character Captain Carl, Now I am a huge fan, friends even nicknamed Chick Hazzard and Captain Carl, I now cry when ever I see "Love is a Dream" on your SNL best of DVD. You have inspired me Phil to become a comedian when I grow up and even move out to L.A., and join the Groundlings, maybe even try out for SNL. Phil Hartman you are one of my heroes and you are greatly missed, Rest in Peace.

I've always admired Phil's voice as the many characters he presented in "The Simpsons", and recently i became a fan of his after witnessing him on "News Radio", i also recently found out he's been dead for about 8 years now which made me feel shocked and sad.
I hope he's in a better place now, and hope he's doing well up there.
I remember Phil fondly on the Simpsons as troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. Without him there's sorta an empty space. God Bless you Phil

Every year I have a party on Phil Hartman's birthday. I've done this now for four years - and every year it seems to get more sad. You're terribly missed.
Every time I think of Phil, I think of my personal favorite SNL moment. That of course is the classic image of him holding Chris in his arms in the spotlight, saying goodbye, tears forming in his eyes. Soon afterwards, they were both gone, far too early. I like to think they're still together.
I still start to cry every time when I see Phil Hartman´s caracter on TV. He was very tallented and very funny. He allways makes me laugh(and cry).

Phil Hartman, one of my favorite characters in Newsradio, and one of the funniest. I still, to this day watch these shows and will never forget this very talented man. May you Rest in Peace.
I still remember studying for final exams and overhearing someone mention that Phil Hartman had been shot. What a loss!! Phil seemed to be not only a comic genius, but just your typical nice guy. I am so glad that there is a website like this that serves as a wonderful tribute to one of the greatest comedians of all time. His humor was timeless. People will watch his work for years to come and still laugh hysterically. Thanks for everything, Phil. We miss you!
Its almost been 10 years. For me it started when I rented the news radio Season 1 and 2. I then was brought back to my school years where I would watch this show on TV. Watching it from the beginning made me recall a lot of those wicked memories of Bill McNeal.. 6 years later is when I rented these and since then I've only done research about the matter and feel like... We have lost someone who was so unique to this industry as it is like losing a part of Jesus Christ.. I mean Phil was awesome.. Many will agree no one can replace him. I wish to extend my condolences to His Children Sean and Bergin, I can't even imagine what they have been through. As A father myself I also lost my Father when I was very young. and It sucks not knowing them as well as you want to.. especially when people always talk about "your dad" like it was yesterday, and you really cant relate. I wish the best for them both, No one deserves to lose parents. Rest in Peace Phil, we miss you always.
I was young when you pasted but I can say that you was one of my most fave. person to watch I still watch Houseguest all the time!!! I was only 10 when you past to to tell you the truth I didn't know you had past until last week when I seen you Bio. on T.V. but its funny how you cry when you don't even know someone but I did love your movies and will never forget you my kids will grow up watching your movies and I hope they past it down to there kids as well My whole family loved you and will love you movies forever!!! We love you phil for all the laughs you gave us and the family movie nights that you made fun Thanks so much!!!! Mr. Hartman your the best!!!!!!
Phil, you are missed very much by me and all who knew you. I really enjoyed watching your personal life and your carreer bloom. Rest in peace...much love.
Phil Hartman you were one of the greatest comedians ever known, life will never be the same. Hope you rest in peace till we see you in the next life. Thanks for all the good memmories.
I think phil hartman was a great person,i used to love watching him as captin carl on pee wee's playhouse, and i loved him in jingle all the way,and in houseguest. i loved his work and he will always be remembered, may he rest in peace.
I think Phil Hartman was part Rudolph Valentino, part Harry James, and part Eroll Flynn. He continues to inspire me to do better at my art and craft. I wish I could have kissed him - surface level - just once. His image and what he did with it makes me so happy.

We have always been huge fans of Newsradio and The Simpsons, especially because of Phil's great performances. We just wanted to say that he is still greatly missed...everytime we watch the Simpsons we mourn the loss of Lionel Hutz and Troy Mclure, but mostly the loss of Phil Hartman himself. We hope you rest in peace
So many years later yet we will not forget. His voice still carries even in re runs such shows as the simpsons. He is missed. He still has fans even though he is no longer here.We all still love the voice that rings true every time we hear it.Mr Hartman you are truely missed.truely...Fly on the wings of an angel..And keep em laughing..

Its so sad he died. I think that's aweful. and he left behind two kids like 9 and 6 at the time Its just terrible. Hearing how he died is the worst part. You dont feel so bad for people who bring it on themselves but he had no choice It was cruel and unfair
Phil will always live on in my heart as the anal retentive sportsman (snl character)

What a tragic loss. I loved him on News Radio, and thinking about his death still affects me.
Phil's passing has affected me more than I thought it might. He was so talented and so likeable. I think John Ritter is in the same category, and I'll miss them both.

Thanks for remembering my brother, Phil. I really miss him a lot and it helps to read these wonderful messages. He was such a sweet, funny guy.
Only knew Phil through his voicing of many Simpsons characters and always loved those he dubbed. Still feel a tingling in my heart when I watch those old episodes in which he was featured. Rest in peace, you talented guy.
The character's Phil played in the simpsons are and always will be my favorite, and everytime i watch it and realise a talented man is dead it makes me very sad.
Thank you for making me smile everytime i hear your voice.
"While today is very sad due to it being the anniversary of Phil's death, it is also an opportunity to celebrate his life and all he's done to make our lives brighter. That is how I will spend this day. God rest your soul Phil and may HE watch over your children and family."
I could not have said it better myself. It's hard to believe it's been 8 years but I still think of Phil often.

It was 8 years ago today that I heard the news that a true comic genius had been taken long before his time. It still effects me to this day, as Phil remains my favorite comic entertainer and will likely continue to be for the rest of my days. Even in his absence, he has become a mentor to me. I have become involved in Improv and comedy and Phil has been the best example of how someone can be hilarious, yet still work to the top of their intelligence and not need to resort to foul language and blue humor. While today is very sad due to it being the anniversary of Phil's death, it is also an opportunity to celebrate his life and all he's done to make our lives brighter. That is how I will spend this day. God rest your soul Phil and may HE watch over your children and family.
